A backup camera is a rear-mounted camera that helps a driver safely backup without a collision or accident. Any driver who knows the convenience of a backup camera will likely not want to go back to an older vehicle.

How does a backup camera work?

When the driver shifts into reverse, it activates the backup camera and displays it on a screen visible to the driver. When the driver shifts back into drive, the backup camera turns off, and the driver's display reverts to whatever was on it before(e.g., music, navigation or messaging).

Some backup cameras even have recommended lines displayed on the screen to help the driver accurately back into parking spaces.

Because of their added boost of safety, backup cameras are required in the USA by federal law on any vehicle less than 10,000 pounds.
