What's New for the 2019 BMW 5 Series?

The BMW 5 Series takes its already well-designed cars and adds even more luxury in 2019. This mid-size sedan has many high-quality engine choices as well as a long list of standard and available tech. Many of the available packages see some changes for 2019 as well. Many advanced safety features become standard across the 5 Series this year. Drivers now get a lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, forward-collision warning, blind spot monitoring, and front and rear parking sensors. Apple CarPlay is now also standard. Drivers can choose to add the Premium package to their BMW 5 Series to make it even more cutting-edge. This package adds a wireless charging pad, a heads-up display, an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, and a self-parking feature. The Executive package adds automatic high beams, adaptive headlamps, soft-close doors, a digital gauge display, and manual side window shades.

The brand-new Convenience package many features to make your life better. With this package, drivers get heated front seats, SiriusXM satellite radio, passive entry, and a power-operated trunk lid. There are several different engines for the 5 Series, depending on the trim level you select. While the 530i gets a 4-cylinder, the 540i gets a 6-cylinder. These engines both pair beautifully with the eight-speed automatic transmission. Those looking for a more environmentally-friendly vehicle will enjoy the 530e. This trim combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor to provide drivers with 248-hp. At the top of the 5 Series line lives the M550i. This vehicle is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8. Each trim level of the 5 Series comes with a 10.2-inch high-resolution central display. Navigation comes standard, as does a USB port and Bluetooth capability. Gesture Control allows the driver or passenger to relay certain commands using nothing but hand gestures. Apple CarPlay is also standard in 2019.
