Serving Chattanooga, TN

The BMW X3 boasts almost two decades of history on the road, and it is the compact luxury crossover that many Chattanooga-area residents have been drawn to over the years. This impressive model ventured into its third generation in 2018. While bold improvements were introduced at that time, BMW continued to enhance this crossover SUV to the delight of drivers. What can you expect when you compare the 2021 BMW X3 to the 2022 version?

The X3 is available with several powertrains for both model years. The primary difference between the 2022 X3 and the 2021 X3 under the hood is introducing mild-hybrid technology in the M40i’s six-cylinder engine. With this engine, you can also enjoy an enhanced starter-generator for improved efficiency. The 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo, four-cylinder engine in the base trim level is unchanged, and it continues to deliver 248 horsepower to you. Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are offered across the trim levels in both model years.

Your comparison of the 2022 and 2021 X3 crossovers continues to the exterior styling. BMW has made two critical changes to the X3 going into the latest model year. These are the design of the headlights and taillights. At the front, the headlights now have a two-part, scalloped appearance. The rear lights show off a flared, key-like design. The other design aspects of the 2021 and 2022 X3 are unchanged. Both have scooped sides, a tall and curved roof, lower-body molding, and a rear skid plate. They also come with heated side mirrors, keyless entry, a sunroof, and a power liftgate.

You will find one difference between the 2021 and 2022 X3’s interior features. This is the addition of Traffic Jam Assist to the Driving Assistance Professional package in the 2022 trim level. Other features in the X3 include the iDrive 7.0 system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a cloud-based navigation system, a 12.3-inch display screen, premium materials, a high-end sound system, an auto climate control system, heated seats, and more.
