Luxury
comes in all shapes and sizes, including compact SUVs like the BMW X3
and Audi Q5. They're both prepared to carry all your cargo, get through
tough driving conditions, and keep you comfortable. Which one is right
for you, though?
To help families in Chattanooga, Hixon, and Cleveland, TN, decide, BMW of Chattanooga looked at what they have to offer in this 2021 BMW X3 vs. Audi Q5 comparison.
BMW X3 vs Audi Q5: Performance
The
BMW X3 is yet another marvel of German engineering. Its xDrive
all-wheel-drive system offers dependable traction, so you can enjoy
agile handling and a safe drive. It also offers enough power to help you
tow up to 4,400 pounds.
In addition to hitching a trailer to your SUV, the X3 can also feel like you're driving a small sports car. Its twin turbo 3.0L V6 engine can get up to 382 horsepower. The Audi Q5 also offers all-wheel drive and a 4,400-pound towing capacity, but it doesn't give you as much power. Its 2.0L 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain offers 362 horsepower combined.
Both SUVs are designed to give you good fuel economy, too. You'll find hybrid options for both, plus a pair of efficient engines. The BMW offers slightly better fuel economy, though. Its base engine offers an EPA-estimated 25 city/29 highway MPG. The Q5 will need to stop for gas a little more often with its EPA-estimated 23 city/28 highway MPG.[i]
BMW X3 vs Audi Q5: Interior
You'll be able to kick back and relax in both the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. They each offer leather seats, wood accents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power-adjustable front seats. There's seating for five in both cabins and enough room to stretch your legs.
A good SUV should have room for all your bags, too. The BMW comes through for you with a large trunk and 40/20/40 split-folding seats that can help you load more. The Audi also offers a fair amount of trunk space and folding seats, but it doesn't have quite as much storage space.

BMW X3 vs Audi Q5:
The
BMW X3 also comes with some cutting-edge features. For example, the
dashboard is home to a 10.25-inch screen that'll help you see where
you're headed and stream your favorite music. Some of the available
features include:
- Apple CarPlay®
- Android Auto™
- Navigation System
- SiriusXM® Radio
On
top of getting turn-by-turn directions, making hands-free calls, and
putting on your favorite playlist, the X3 makes everything easy to
control. With the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, just say, "Hey
BMW," and it'll bring up whatever app, address, or album you want.
The Audi Q5 offers the same sort of smartphone compatibility, just on a slightly smaller 10.1-inch screen. While it also offers voice control, it doesn't give you the same personal touch or attention to detail as the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
Test Drive an Exciting SUV
From
its high-tech personal assistant to its powerful engines, there's a lot
to like about the BMW X3. Its comfortable cabin and convenient cargo
room makes it a great choice for families in Chattanooga, Hixon, and
Cleveland, TN.
