Extreme temperatures can be a challenge for car batteries. Colder weather requires more voltage to start the engine, and hot weather causes them to discharge faster than normal. The following steps will help you keep your battery healthy in any climate:

1) Keep it cool by storing it in a shady spot on cold days or by wrapping it with an insulating material like heavy cloth or cardboard when you store it indoors during extreme heat.
2) Avoid high-speed charging and quick discharging of your battery (i.e., avoid rapid acceleration).
3) Allow the battery to warm up gradually before driving even short distances.
4) Inflate tires properly - underinflation reduces fuel efficiency and increases rolling resistance, while overinflation increases heat.
5) Avoid unnecessary accessories (e.g., under-the-hood lights).
6) Get your car's battery regularly serviced at a repair shop that is ASE or I-Car certified to make sure it's in top condition.
