The 2017 BMW 5 Series is bigger and smarter, and continues to deliver an outstanding driving experience for a midsize luxury sedan, says Alex Goy, auto writer for CNET's Roadshow in a new review. The 5 Series sits in a sweet spot for BMW - its road performance allows it to still be described as sporty while offering significantly more cabin room than the 3 Series, but its price tag is still (relatively) more affordable than stepping up to the even larger 7 Series.
The 535i Gran Turismo is the model reviewed by Roadshow and it features a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that makes 300 horsepower. It's paired with an eight-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes, adaptive transmission control and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
