The 3 Series has been a mainstay in the BMW lineup for years. This compact sedan’s most recent generation debuted in 2019, and BMW has brought several updates to life since that time. As you take a closer look at the 2023 BMW 3 Series, you will notice several improvements to its style and features.
On the exterior, the design has been refreshed to give the 3 Series a modern look. It continues to have a sporty air with a rounded nose featuring a stretched, two-part grille and scalloped LED headlights. The lower fascia also has a pulled look with tall air vents on the fringes. The style is further defined by an angled definition line that curves up through the lower door panels. Exterior features include up to 19-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, heated side mirrors, and more.
Inside, a few critical updates elevate the 3 Series’ appeal for the 2023 model year. For example, the central display screen and the digital display screen are now larger, and they are embedded in a single unit for a contiguous feel. Some of the dashboard buttons from the 2022 model year have also been integrated into the touch display unit. All other aspects of the interior are unchanged across the trim levels. The base trim includes auto climate control, simulated leather, a navigation system, a power sunroof, BMW-connected services, and forward collision mitigation. If you step up to a higher trim, the 3 Series could give you a premium Harman Kardon sound system, hands-free keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, heated seats, a head-up display, and other desired features.
Three powertrains are offered in the 2023 3 Series. All are paired with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available upon request. The base engine is a 255-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed auto transmission. The mid-range engine is a hybrid system that produces 288 net horsepower. The top 3 Series trim level has a 382-horsepower, turbo V6 engine. It also comes with a sport differential, a sports suspension, and upgraded brakes.
